Istanbul Historic Peninsula: Where Civilizations Meet

Ready to see centuries of history on one peninsula? We meet next to the Sultanahmet tram stop and enter Topkapı Palace through the Imperial Gate, exploring the courtyards, chambers and collections of the palace from which the Ottoman sultans ruled.

Back on the square we visit Hagia Sophia, a place of worship for more than 1,500 years, and the Blue Mosque with its famous tiles. At the Hippodrome, once the stage of Byzantine chariot races, we see the Obelisk of Theodosius and the Serpent Column, then descend into the cool darkness of the Basilica Cistern. Following Divan Yolu, the old Roman Mese, we end the tour in the maze of the Grand Bazaar.

A perfect first look for newcomers, and a chance for Istanbulites to reconnect with the heart of their city.

A private full-day tour on request, at least 6 hours, in English or Turkish, for up to 30 guests: €250 per group. Museum tickets are paid by guests; we buy them in advance for your group so you skip the ticket queues. Children up to 6 free. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

If you come on your own, we meet next to the Sultanahmet tram stop. From hotels further away we can pick you up by vehicle on request (one-way transfer €50, vehicle for the whole day €200), or your guide can meet you at your hotel and travel with you by tram. Cruise passengers can be met at the port by vehicle or public transport. Your guide is Osman Altay or one of our licensed guides.
