With the Music Road trip, we can observe the accumulation of centuries-old music culture in Istanbul in the enchanting atmosphere of the city and its venues. Istanbul is a unique city that contains both Eastern and Western music cultures separately and in synthesis. Travel Programme
- 09:00 Meeting in front of Harbiye Army Club (Greetings and Introduction)
- Explanation about military bands, Janissary music, and the relationship between music and the military and wars in front of the Harbiye Army Club.
- Visiting the grave of Donizetti Pasha inside the Saint Esprit Church and informing about the influence of Western music in the Ottoman Empire (Entrance to Saint Esprit Church requires special permission, if allowed, entrance to the church is possible).
- Walking towards TRT Radio House and explanation about the process of our music culture in the early years of the Republic and the role of TRT during this period.
- Walking from Harbiye to Elmadağ and explanation of the current music venues in Elmadağ and Turkish Gazino music.
- Walking towards Taksim Square and explanation about the contributions of the AKM (Atatürk Cultural Center) and AKM’s role in our music culture, AKM’s reconstruction, and new projects.
- Visiting Saint Antoine Church on İstiklal Avenue and explanation about Church music.
- Continuing the walk on İstiklal Avenue and after reaching Galata Mevlevihane, explaining about Mevlevism and Sufi Music.
- Visiting music instrument vendors on Galip Dede Street and nearby streets and explaining about music instrument shops in the area.
- Transportation from Şişhane to Aynalıkavak Pavilion in Has Köy. Visiting the music museum at Aynalıkavak Pavilion. Explaining the interest and contributions of Ottoman Sultans to music here. (Poetry, art, music in the era of Sultan Selim III – Tulip Era)
- Driving along the Golden Horn coast, passing by Bahariye Mevlevihane and explaining the place of Mevlevism in music culture, the musicians it raised, etc.
- Break and explanation about musicians of Eyüp Sultan in front of the Eyüp Sultan Musicians’ Café (Zekai Dede, Buhurizade Mustafa Itri Efendi, etc.).
- Continuing towards Ayvansaray by vehicle (Explanation about Mehteran-ı Eyüp Sultan on the way).
- Visiting Dimitri Kantemir Museum in Balat and explaining the process of noting Turkish music.
- Free time in Balat and Fener and lunch break.
- Passing by in front of IMÇ Market in Unkapanı and explaining about record stores in IMÇ.
- Passing through Kumkapı and Ahırkapı via Aksaray Yenikapı and explaining about music venues in Aksaray and Kumkapı.
- Break in Ahırkapı and explanation about Roma music and the contribution of Roma musicians to music culture.
- Visit to Ismail Dede Efendi Museum.
- Crossing from Eurasia Tunnel to Kadıköy and explaining about Süreyya Opera and the history of opera in Turkey.
- Crossing to Üsküdar and explaining about musicians from Üsküdar.
- Üsküdar Music Society and explaining the contributions of music societies to music culture.
- Ending the tour in Üsküdar Square and returning to the European side with the same vehicle for those who want.
PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Daily tour prices include Reviva Tourism guiding services, museum entrances, donations to religious structures, some institutions, and individuals, VAT, unless otherwise specified, transportation, and lunch. For services that are included or not included according to the conditions on the route of each tour, please ask for detailed information during the reservation.
During our tours, all travelers are required to wear protective masks.
To maintain social distance, during all our tours, devices that allow our travelers to comfortably listen to our guide’s explanations will be provided. Due to hygiene rules and to reduce plastic waste, guests will be asked to provide the earphones required for these devices, and spare earphones will also be available.
To finalize the reservations, participants must provide their Turkish ID numbers or company invoice information to the sales representative and pay the full tour fee. Participants who have completed their reservations are considered to have accepted the Tour Sales and Implementation Conditions.
For Adım Adım Istanbul tours, it is possible to refund the remaining balance or transfer it to another tour until three days before the tour, a 60% deduction will be made for cancellations two days before the tour, and no refunds or transfers will be possible for cancellations made after the end of the business day (18:30) one day before the tour. In case of cancellation, participants must inform by e-mail to reviva@reviva.com.tr or by SMS to 05421014453.
Reviva Tourism may change the tour route and make changes to the tour due to natural, social, cultural, road, and weather conditions.
Services included in the tour price but not used in accordance with the preferences of our travelers cannot be refunded, such as transportation, meals, and museum entrance fees.
Our tours involve intense narration and walking, so the participation of children under the age of 10 is not recommended, and they will not be accepted on the tour. There is no child discount for children aged 10 and over. However, in exceptional cases, museum entrance fees are reduced for participants under 18 years of age according to the pricing system determined by the authorities.
Please do not deposit money in the bank without capitalizing on the name, tour name, and date. If you have made an online payment, please contact the sales representative afterwards.
After your reservation is accepted by Reviva Tourism, payments must be made on the same day. If you have an option request, please contact the sales representative.
Reservations that are not paid on the last payment date will be canceled without any special distinction and without any reminders.
When depositing money in the bank, please do not forget to write your name, the name of the tour, and the date.
In tours where mosques or other religious buildings are visited, we kindly request all travelers to have a headscarf or shawl.
In visits to other religious structures as well, we kindly request all travelers to participate with appropriate clothing.
Especially in mosque visits, shoes will be removed. Travelers who wish can bring overshoes with them. However, some religious structures do not allow the use of overshoes under any circumstances.
In tours where vehicles are used, the first two seats on the right, depending on the direction of travel, belong to our Tour Leader. Please do not sit here. There is no seat reservation for any seat, and the first arriving guests can sit where they want according to availability. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 process, planning will be made to have one traveler per row in our vehicles, and the capacity of the vehicle will be reduced by half. We kindly request that you do not change your seats during the tour for hygiene purposes. Due to the guidelines from the Ministry of Transport and the safe travel rules of Reviva Tourism, we kindly request your sensitivity.
There is no water in our vehicles during daily tours.
During the start and end of the tour, no boarding or disembarking is allowed at places not specified in the tour program.
Traveling with a group, of course, requires some responsibilities, especially mutual respect and tolerance. We need to approach within this framework, such as not smoking, taking photos, not removing your protective mask, using hygienic wipes or antiseptic gel if there are points to hold, not coughing in the open air, etc.
We wish that photographers would not be obstructed, and photographers would not disturb others.
